Recently I am really picking up on the SH Figuarts Dragon Ball Z figures line and the S.H. Figuarts Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku Dragon Ball Z Action Figure got my attention. This character got a short appearance in the Dragon Ball Z manga and I am not sure he is really such a pivotal character. However, considering that this figure depicts the first time that Son Goku went into SSJ3 mode, it seems to be an important toy figure to have to bookmark major events from the manga. This re-issue figure comes with a brand new mold which looks greatly improved and has a nicer color tone but SH Figuarts dropped the power up effects that surrounded Son Goku in the previous edition.. The power up effect is not included. All we get this time round is the improved mold for the Son Goku SSJ3 figure. The S.H. Tien Shinhan is one of the strongest Earthlings in the Dragon Ball Z series and an interesting character to allow us to take a break from Saiyans and Super Saiyans. The   S.H. Figuarts Tien Shinhan Action Figure  captures this look very well but I sort of hope that he should have some clothing or accessory for us to convert his attire to a one shoulder tank top as seen in the Android Sage versus the bare upper body we see here. One shoulder tank top attire and preparing the Neo Tri Beam attack to stop Cell Version 2 from getting to Android 18. The  S.H. Figuarts Tien Shinhan Action Figure  depicts Tien Shin Han during the Vegeta Saga and hence the move that he is pulling off here is the Tri Beam and not the Neo Tri Beam. This move is always done with Tien hovering over his enemy and firing from the top down. We have already started to take for granted the high quality Dragonball Z toy figures from the S.H Figuarts line. The S.H. Figuarts Son Gohan  was one of the earliest to be released in the line and at one point of time the price rose to over $200. Thankfully, with a re-issue, the price has recovered back to an acceptable range of less than $40 so it is a good chance to get it for collectors late to this line. Paint-job is excellent and the details are incredible. There are shadings on his hair, belt and shoes so it really looks great and the resemblance to the character from the anime is uncanny. The only drawback is that some may find him too small standing at about 5 inches from the tip of his hair to his foot.  The  S.H. One of the most iconic villains from Dragonball Z has been made into an SH Figuarts Action Figure. The S.H. Figuarts Final Form Freeza   is   an SDCC exclusive and unlike the Son Goku Super Saiyan Awakening S.H Figuarts Figure , he comes with tons of accessories. There is a stone base stand for re-enacting the battleground on Planet Namek, a death beam and death ball energy piece, 2 tails with one that can be used to strangle his opponents, 3 changeable heads with different facial expressions, changeable hands and feet and a figure stand. That's a lot of accessories and many possibilities for posing. I like the inclusion of the stone base a lot and the pose above is pretty iconic. This is a scene from the Dragonball Z manga after Frieza was hit by Son Goku's Spirit Ball. He survived the attack but was seriously injured and now he is pissed off. This version of the S.H. Figuarts Super Saiyan Awakening Son Goku  depicts his first transformation into a Super Saiyan during his battle with Freeza on the Planet Namek.  The detailing is superb and I especially like the battle damaged effects he has on his clothing after his intense battle with Final Form Freeza . In terms of accessories, the  S.H. Figuarts Super Saiyan Awakening Son Goku  comes with 2 additional interchangeable faces to show different facial expressions. There is a normal cool looking face, an angry face with him baring his teeth and one best used with the Kame-Hame-Ha as seen below. I think SH Figurarts figures are of pretty high quality and they have gotten the face right for Son Goku. Many of my Dragonball Z Toys from my childhood did not have this level of quality and i had to bear with figures just barely resembling Goku. Well, not any more with the S.H.
